SEA-EU – 9 universities with the same goal

Since 2019 SEA-EU has been building a international alliance of higher education institutions from across the EU with a common long-term strategy and European values.

What is SEA-EU?

SEA-EU is an Alliance of 9 European Coastal Universities (Cadiz, Bretagne Occidentale, Kiel, Gdansk, Split, Malta, Naples, Algarve, and NORD) dedicated to the creation of a European Coastal Campus where all students and staff could experience Europe through a rich and varied offer of activities and cooperation.

SEA-EU is one of the pioneers in the European Universities Initiative, which started in 2019 and that, after the renewal achieved, is working towards ambitious objectives such as the European Degree Label for joint programmes, the Legal Status, or the goal of 50% of mobilities.

University of Cádiz

The University of Cádiz is a public university located in the province of Cádiz, Andalusia, Spain, noted for its medicine and marine sciences curricula. It was founded in 1979,and has the Latin motto Non Plus Ultra (“No Further Beyond”).

University of Western Brittany

The University of Western Brittany is on the north-western coast of France. Brest is one of the world’s marine science capitals and is home to 60% of French marine researchers, as well as several major organizations such as IFREMER.

Kiel University

Kiel University, officially the Christian-Albrecht University of Kiel, is a public research university in the city of Kiel, Germany. It was founded in 1665 as the Academia Holsatorum Chiloniensis by Christian Albert, Duke of Holstein. It is the largest, oldest, and most prestigious university in the state of Schleswig-Holstein.

University of Gdańsk

The University of Gdańsk is a public research university located in Gdańsk, Poland. It is one of the top 10 universities in Poland and is also an important centre for the studies of the Kashubian language.

University of Split

The University of Split is a university located in Split, Croatia. The focus of the research work carried out by the university is on scientific areas with reference to disciplines characterized by natural, bio-medical, cultural, historical, social, economic and other features of the region as a part of the Croatian Adriatic and the Mediterranean region as a whole.

University of Malta

The University of Malta is a higher education institution in Malta. The precursor to the University of Malta was the Collegium Melitense, a Jesuit college which was set up on 12 November 1592.

University of Naples Parthenope

The University of Naples Parthenope is one of the universities located in Naples, Italy. “Parthenope” University was founded in 1920 as the Regio Istituto Superiore Navale, that is, as the Royal Naval Technical Institute of the Kingdom of Italy.

University of Algarve

The University of Algarve (UAlg), founded in 1979, is a Portuguese public higher education institution located in the southernmost region of mainland Portugal.

NORD University

NORD University is a state university in the Nordland and Trøndelag counties of Norway. The university is committed to a broad scope of educational and research programmes, with a focus on blue and green growth, innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as welfare, health and education.
