Research area
Marine chemistry – Photochemical transformations of chromophoric dissolved organic matter and photodegradation of organic pollutants
Why is your research important?
Dissolved organic matter (DOM) is an important component of matter cycling and microbial loop in aquatic environments and its UV-induced transformations affect its availability for these processes.
What are your personal motivations?
This research cruise is an excellent opportunity for me to investigate DOM with spectral and chemical characteristics differing from the organic matter from the Baltic Sea I usually conduct research on.
What are you going to do during the cruise onboard r/v Oceanograf?
I will be responsible for collecting environmental samples for CDOM, DOC, nutrients and Hg determination for the Department of Chemical Oceanography and Marine Geology.
