– Methylmercury cycling in marine environment
Why is your research important?
My research is important because it explores how methylmercury interacts with phytoplankton in the Baltic and Nordic Seas—a topic not well understood. This work will enhance our knowledge of methylmercury cycling in these waters, helping develop better strategies to manage mercury contamination.
What are your personal motivations?
I’m really focused on making sure the samples we gather accurately represent the levels of trace metals present. I’m eager to collaborate with everyone, pooling our diverse skills and knowledge to better understand marine environmental dynamics.
What are you going to do during the cruise onboard r/v Oceanograf?
I’ll be in charge of collecting and preserving water samples for further mercury and methylmercury testing. My job is to make sure the samples are properly handled and kept safe for the further analysis.
